On Monday morning, May 14, at 4:33 am, teachers out of Pasadena Independent School District (PISD) received an email saying the school was 80 degrees and that they were working as diligently as possible to cool the building. However, the lack of air conditioning in the school has been ongoing for weeks even creating test irregularities for students taking the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), a standardized test mandated by Texas.
Students from the affected school, J. Frank Dobie High School, have made two GoFundMe pages one saying, “the heat is intolerable” and the other being much more blunt saying, “hot as shit.”

In one of the emails from May 2 to teachers, it is important to note that “several other campuses” in PISD are experiencing difficulties with their air conditioning which means there are even more students who experienced STAAR testing irregularities.
I’ve contacted the district to get information on which other campuses do not have air conditioning, and more importantly, which ones did not have it during STAAR. They have not replied back to me.
If your school is experiencing testing irregularities, report it here.
